1. If you are using a mail management program such as Microsoft Outlook and you receive a message like this:
“The message could not be sent, one of the recipients was rejected by the server. Their email address is ‘name@domain_name.xxx’. Subject ‘…’, Account: ‘…’, Server: ‘mail.domain_name.xxx’, Protocol: SMTP, Server response: ‘550 5.7.1 … Relaying denied. IP name possibly forged [XX.XXX.XX.XXX]’, Port: 25, Security (SSL): No, Server error: 550, Error number: 0x800CCC79”
- You must check that in your email account settings, under the “Servers” tab, the option “My server requires authentication” is checked.”
This option must be checked because the outgoing mail server requires users who wish to send emails through our servers to identify themselves with a valid username and password. If the correct information is not being used, sending messages to other servers will not be allowed, and this is why the indicated message is received.
2. Another reason may be that you send a message and automatically receive a response like this:
“The message could not be sent, the server rejected the sender’s email address: ‘name@domain_name.xxx’. Subject ‘…’, Account: ‘mail.domain_name.xxx’, Server: ‘mail.domain_name.xxx’, Protocol: SMTP, Server response: ‘550 5.7.1 Rejected: XXX.XXX.XXX.XX listed at bl.spamcop.net’, Port: 25, Security (SSL): No, Server error: 550, Error number: 0x800CCC78.”
