1. Launch Mozilla Thunderbird and click on “Tools -> Account Settings -> Add Account”, then click “Next”
2. On the next screen, enter the name for your email account and the email address you want to configure, then click “Next”
3. Select POP as your incoming mail server and enter the server name. Type “mail” followed by your domain name (e.g., mail.domain.com).
4. If this is the first email account you’re creating in Thunderbird, enter the same value for the outgoing server. Otherwise, it will use your previously selected server. As the window indicates, “You can modify the outgoing server settings by choosing Mail Account Settings from the Tools menu”. Then click “Next”.
5. Enter the email address you want to configure in “Account Name”. Ensure your address includes your email account name followed by “@” and your domain name, then click “Next”.
6. Enter the name you want the account to have.
7. On the final screen of the wizard, click “Finish”. The window will display all the information for the account you created.
8. Once you’re done, return to the window where you can modify your outgoing email settings: “Outgoing Server (SMTP)”
- The “Server Name” field should include the value for your outgoing mail server, which will match the one you used for the incoming mail server, “mail.domain_name.xxx”
- Select the “Use username and password” option and enter your user account value (user@domain_name.xxx).
- The password will be required when you first send or receive messages.
